Headache, Nausea, Vomiting, Anti-emetics, Pain Management
This course will cover the primary causes of headache, the secondary causes that should alert the responder to serious causes of headache, pain management, and alternatives to narcotic pain management.
Target Audience
This course is designed for those providers currently working under the medical license of Dr. James Kempema.
Learning Objectives
Objectives: By the end of this education the student will be able to:
• Differentiate between a primary and secondary headache.
Demonstrate how to evaluate the patient for a headache.
Describe various signs and symptoms and relate them to primary or secondary headaches.
Describe and put into practice the various types of pain scales.
Describe the indications, contraindications, and dosing for the various protocol medications used to treat headache and pain.
Describe various OTC and herbal supplements that may have untoward and/or synergistic effects with prescribed pain medications.
