The Pregnant Trauma Patient

This course will cover the Epidemiology, basics of pregnancy, changes that occur to the mother during pregnancy, how to estimate gestational age, injury patterns found in pregnancy, the fetus during trauma, and managment.

Target Audience

This course is designed for those providers currently working under the medical license of Dr. James Kempema.

Learning Objectives

Objectives: By the end of this education the student will be able to:


1. Describe the epidemiology of OB trauma

2. Describe the basics of pregnancy

3. Describe the changes that occur in pregnancy

4. estimate the gestational age of an unconscious pregnant female

5. Describe the various injury patterns found in OB trauma

6. Describe what happens to the fetus during maternal trauma

7. Describe treatments for the OB trauma patient.
