Respiratory Insufficiency and Failure/Skills Wind Crest
This class will cover respiratory physiology, hypoxia, chest assessment, ETCO2 waveforms, The Airway Vortex, Airway management, and respiratory medication review.
Target Audience
This course is designed for those providers currently working under the medical license of Dr. James Kempema.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this class, the student will be able to:
1. Describe respiratory physiology and gas exchange.
2. Describe the 4 different types of hypoxias, how thy occur, and treatment plans.
3. Demonstrate how to assess the chest of a patient
4. Given an ETCO2 wave from, describe the details of what the wave form shows and how to make treatment decisions-based on this information.
5. Describe the airway vortex and how it provides information to the EMS provider about chosing the right airway management technique.
6. Demonstrate how to use BLS and ALS airway equipment
7. Describe the indications, contraindications, and side effects of various respiratory medications.
