Neuro Clue Game- Stroke & Stroke Mimics Webinar
In this interactive lecture, EMS providers step into the role of medical detectives, using the classic game Clue as a framework for uncovering one of the toughest challenges in prehospital neurology: distinguishing true strokes from stroke mimics. Just like solving a case in Clue, providers must piece together clues from patient history, exam findings, onset patterns, risk factors, and scene details to identify the real culprit behind neurologic deficits.
Participants will explore the most common and high-risk stroke mimics—such as seizures, hypoglycemia, migraines, sepsis, tumors, intoxication, and functional neurologic disorders—while learning practical assessment strategies to differentiate each “suspect.” The session emphasizes rapid, structured neurologic evaluation, targeted questioning, and recognition of red flags that guide critical decision-making in the field.
Using scenario-based problemsolving inspired by Clue, crews will practice narrowing down diagnoses (“Was it hypoglycemia in the kitchen with the insulin pen?”) and refining transport and treatment priorities. The lecture reinforces the importance of early stroke recognition, mindful avoidance of anchoring bias, and effective communication with stroke centers.
This fun, engaging session equips EMS providers with sharper diagnostic reasoning and greater confidence when the presentation isn’t as it seems—a true medical mystery worth solving.
