Patients with Special Needs WDCFD
This course will familiarize the student about patients with special needs and provide some insight on how to best treat these patients and transport them safely.
Target Audience
This course is designed for those providers currently working under the medical license of Dr. James Kempema.
Learning Objectives
Objectives: By the end of this education the student will be able to:
1. Describe how to communicate with people who have hearing, visual, and sensory impairments.
2. Describe unique issues with MS, MD, and CP patients.
3. Describe the difference between central lines, PICC lines, and subcutaneous ports.
4. Describe J Tubes, G Tubes, ureter, and urethral stomas
5. Describe the mechanics of a ventilator.
6. Describe how to deal with a defib vest and patients with LVAD placement
