Protocol Updates and Burns Conifer and Elk Creek Fire

This course will cover the depths of burns, the zones of burns, review the rule of nines, how to treat burns, review smoke inhalation and Haz Mat situations, and discuss appropriate transport for burn victims.

Target Audience

This course is designed for those providers currently working under the medical license of Dr. James Kempema.

Learning Objectives

žBy the end of this course, the Student will be able to:
•Define various depths of burns
•Define the zones of burn injuries
•How applying ice can affect burn depth
•Use the “rule of nines”
•Calculate fluid resuscitation in burn patients
•Describe the appropriate burn dressing for burns
•Discuss electrical burns, smoke inhalation, Haz Mat
•Discuss management for patients with circumferential burns
•Discuss criteria for the transfer to a burn center.
